At Fareham Road Surgery, we believe that good oral health is the foundation of a confident smile. Our general dentistry services cover everything you need to maintain healthy teeth and gums, from routine check-ups and hygiene appointments to fillings, extractions and more.
We recommend visiting your dentist at least once every six to twelve months for a routine examination. During your check-up, your dentist will carefully examine your teeth, gums and mouth, looking for any signs of decay, gum disease or other concerns. We also carry out oral cancer screening as part of every examination.
As an NHS practice, many of our general dentistry treatments are available at NHS prices. We also offer private treatment options for patients who prefer access to a wider range of materials and techniques, or who would like extended appointment times.
Current NHS dental charges in England (2024/25)
Covers an examination, diagnosis and preventive care such as X-rays, scale and polish, and planning for further treatment.
Includes everything in Band 1 plus additional treatment such as fillings, root canal treatment and tooth extractions.
Includes everything in Bands 1 and 2 plus more complex procedures such as crowns, dentures and bridges.
Some patients are entitled to free NHS dental treatment, including those under 18, pregnant women, and those receiving certain benefits. Ask our team for details.
If decay is found during your examination, your dentist will recommend a filling to restore the tooth. We offer both traditional amalgam fillings (available on the NHS) and tooth-coloured composite fillings for a more natural appearance.
White composite fillings are available privately and are virtually invisible, blending seamlessly with your natural tooth colour. They bond directly to the tooth surface, often allowing us to preserve more of your healthy tooth structure.
Sometimes a tooth is too damaged to be saved and extraction is the best option. Our dentists carry out both simple and surgical extractions with care and precision, ensuring you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
We always discuss replacement options with you after an extraction, including dentures, bridges and dental implants, so you can make an informed decision about restoring your smile.
