A permanent, natural-looking solution for missing teeth — placed by specialist Mr Kalsi at our Gosport practice.
A dental implant is a small titanium post that is surgically placed into the jaw bone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once healed, a custom-made porcelain crown is attached to the implant, creating a replacement tooth that looks, feels and functions just like a natural one.
Unlike dentures or bridges, implants are a permanent solution that does not rely on neighbouring teeth for support. They are widely regarded as the gold standard in tooth replacement and have an excellent long-term success rate of over 95%.
At Fareham Road Surgery, dental implants are placed by Mr Kalsi, an experienced implant specialist who brings precision, skill and a wealth of expertise to every case.

Dental implants offer significant advantages over other forms of tooth replacement.
Implants are designed to look, feel and function just like your natural teeth. The porcelain crown is colour-matched to blend seamlessly with your smile.
Unlike dentures, implants stimulate the jaw bone and prevent the bone loss that naturally occurs after losing a tooth, maintaining your facial structure.
With proper care and good oral hygiene, dental implants can last a lifetime. They are the most durable and reliable tooth replacement available.
Implants are anchored securely in the jaw bone, so there is no slipping or discomfort. You can enjoy all your favourite foods with complete confidence.

A permanent solution designed to look, feel and function like your natural teeth
From your first consultation to your completed smile, here is what to expect at each stage of your implant journey.
Your journey begins with a comprehensive assessment with Mr Kalsi. We will discuss your dental history, examine the area and take initial X-rays to assess suitability. This is your opportunity to ask any questions about the procedure.
A detailed 3D CT scan is taken to map the jaw bone structure precisely. Mr Kalsi uses this imaging to plan the exact position, angle and depth of the implant for the best possible outcome.
The titanium implant is placed into the jaw bone under local anaesthetic. The procedure is carried out with precision and care, and most patients report far less discomfort than expected.
Over the next 3 to 6 months, the implant fuses with the natural bone in a process called osseointegration. During this time you may wear a temporary restoration so you are never without a tooth.
Once the implant has fully integrated, impressions are taken and a bespoke porcelain crown is crafted. The crown is then securely fixed to the implant, completing your new tooth.
We believe in clear, upfront pricing with no hidden costs. All fees are discussed in full at your consultation.

Most adults with good general health are suitable candidates for dental implants. The key requirement is having enough healthy jaw bone to support the implant, though bone grafting can sometimes be carried out if needed.
Certain conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking or active gum disease may affect suitability, but these can often be managed before treatment begins. The best way to find out is to book a consultation with Mr Kalsi, who will carry out a thorough assessment and discuss your options honestly.

The implant placement is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel any pain during the procedure. Afterwards, some mild discomfort and swelling is normal for a few days and can be managed with over-the-counter painkillers. Most patients are surprised at how comfortable the experience is.
With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, dental implants can last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after 10 to 15 years due to normal wear, but the titanium implant itself is designed to be a permanent fixture.
There is no upper age limit for dental implants. As long as you are in reasonable general health and have sufficient jaw bone density, implants can be a suitable option. We have successfully placed implants for patients well into their 80s.
From the initial consultation to the final crown fitting, the process typically takes between 4 and 9 months. The majority of this time is the healing period where the implant integrates with the bone. The surgical procedure itself usually takes around 1 to 2 hours.
Yes, absolutely. Many patients choose to replace their dentures with implants for a more secure and comfortable solution. In some cases, implants can also be used to stabilise existing dentures, significantly improving their fit and function.
